» Feature Writer Jacqueline Church - Can I request a Taiwanese primer?

June:
Thank you for the intro to Malaysian food. We reviewed the intro/primer and enjoyed our visit to Penang.

The other night, my husband and I were eating at our favorite Korean restaurant (Kalbi Gui for me and spicy Beef Bulgolgi for him). We looked across the street to Taiwan Cafe and said once more, "we should really try that place sometime."

My sister-in-law's husband is Taiwanese and he even said "Dang, there's some funky stuff in that place." Well, one man's funk is another man's pleasure, right? (Yucan might even be a good resource for you...)

Truly, the menu is huge and a little daunting. How about a little Taiwanese101 for us neophytes? I also am fairly limited in my knowledge of Korean food, sticking to a regular rotation of about 5 dishes...

Thanks!
Jacqueline

ps. I'd happily return the favor on any topic you'd like to suggest I cover!

In response to Can I request a Taiwanese primer? posted by JChurch:

Yes, of course Jacqueline, I would love to do a primer on Taiwanese food. I have very little contact with this cuisine, so I will endeavour to do a primer eventually!
