Growing up, I don't think I had more than 1 meal a week if that, that wasn't accompanied by rice. It's a staple in many South American countries, next to the humble spud. Thanks for the fascinating read, June. Perhaps in a future edition, you could tell us about my personal favourite- Wild Rice! :-)
