A New Rice

» Feature Writer Jacqueline Church - Recent find!

I recently stumbled upon Tamaki brand of rice - a version they call "Hiaga". It's like typical Japanese short grain rice, but milled in a way that retains a bit of the rice germ and therefore lots of the nutrients typically processed away.

Having lived through a period of time when everyone ate brown rice, I'm delighted to find a nutritionally superior AND edible rice to enjoy.

I've found very little info on it and since I don't (hangs her head in shame) read Japanese, I only have access to a bit of info posted in English on their website.

I find great comfort in a simple bowl of rice. So true...
