New Year's, the Chinese way

New Year's, the Chinese way: what to do and eat

As the Western world enters its new year, the Chinese are busy looking forward to the lunar new year which occurs on Feb. 18.

Chinese New Year's, in my house, was always bigger than Christmas and New Year's Eve combined. I'm not kidding. It would take weeks of food preparation in order for our house to be ready for visitors. In Malaysia, we'd spend 2 weeks celebrating -- eating at other people's houses and of course, recieving litte red envelopes of money. The Chinese New Year was always satisfying: for the tummy and the wallet.
